Sam Walton’s brilliant strategy for Wal-mart was to go into cities where his competitors wouldn’t go. Opening in smaller towns made the stores dominate in those areas. He would then use the profits from the small towns to move into the big cities. After just 30 years of this strategy Sam Walton was the richest man in America.
When taking this formula to the World Wide Web ask yourself; “What do you want people to search for to find you?”. Make it very specific which in turns make less suggestions come up on google. This gives you an area of google to dominate. The big companies can’t take the time to worry about the small stuff. It takes a lot less effort and time to rank for a very specific search phrase. Just keep repeating this process and over time not only will you be growing in top search results and in clients, you’ll also start dominating the top searched phrases!
